Emmerdale’s Ash Palmisciano who plays Matty Barton in the popular ITV soap has hinted at a possible reunion between his character and Samson Dingle, albeit admitting it won’t be smooth sailing.

As avid viewers of the series would know, Matty Barton finds himself locked away after an alleged stabbing incident at The Hide led to Samson pointing fingers at him. The unfortunate accident occurred during a robbery attempt last month which saw Samson being injured.

Encouraged by his friend Josh Cope, Samson falsely accused Matty of intentionally stabbing him. This resulted in fracturing the Dingles, with Cain, Matty’s stepfather, and Moira siding with Matty while Sam and Lydia showing support towards Samson and believing his story.

Ash Palmisciano, speaking on the possibility of Matty forgiving Samson said, “Right now, Matty is so hurt and confused as to how he even got to this point.”

He further elaborated, “One minute, he was just going about his everyday life and the next minute he was in prison. He knows that the truth hasn’t quite come out yet”, Digital Spy reported.

Mentioning about the existing feud among the Dingles, Ash expressed Matty’s confusion over why Samson would want to put him in such a compromising situation.

The soap star elaborated: “Interestingly enough, I think Matty also understands the pressure that Samson has been under. There was a storyline we did a few years ago, where Matty got involved with some more toxic sort of guys.”

“In that storyline, Matty tried to behave like them, thinking that’s the way to be and that’s how every young guy should be. Matty wanted to fit in.”

Ash highlighted that Matty is aware of the tough spot Samson finds himself in due to peer pressure and not knowing how to handle it. He continued: “I think Samson’s in a situation where he feels trapped and he can’t really speak out against Josh.

“So I think knowing Matty, knowing how forgiving he is, I think one day he will forgive him but it’s going to take some doing.”

In the upcoming episodes of Emmerdale next week, Matty faces a horrifying ordeal when Robbo discovers he is trans and decides to pay an unwelcome visit to his prison cell.

As the week progresses, the situation for Matty deteriorates while Amy and Moira are left puzzled by the lack of news from him.

Lydia becomes privy to Josh intimidating Samson and coercing him into maintaining his lies to the authorities, leading her to suspect that Samson might be concealing something. The question remains, after Lydia and Moira’s meeting, will Lydia choose to assist them?
