New Emmerdale boss Sophie Roper has finally got her hands on the reins of the ITV soap, and she has promised plenty of exiting drama ahead – including a chaotic wedding.

The couple set to tie the knot are none other than Paddy Kirk and Mandy Dingle (Dominic Brunt and Lisa Riley), who’s relationship has been somewhat rocky over the last few months.

The fan favourite couple went through a rough patch earlier this year after Paddy shared a kiss with ex-wife Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter), leaving Mandy devastated.

The pair came close to splitting, but with such a rich history, they couldn’t stay apart for long.

In truly fairytale scenes, Mandy and Paddy forgave each other, with Paddy later proposing.

Nothing is ever smooth when it comes to Mandy and Paddy, so their wedding will no doubt be a chaotic affair, as producer Sophie teased.

‘In the Dingle world we’ve got Mandy and Paddy building towards a wedding. It is Mandy and Paddy so that’s going to be filled with fun.’

Mandy’s style is pretty iconic, with her big hair and staple leopard print – and it sounds like her wedding dress is going to be true to character.

‘We’ve had Mandy’s dress made in-house by one of our dressmakers. It’s going to very Mandy, it’s going to be very big, it’s going to be fun. So look out for some fun in amongst all that with the Dingles as well.’

Elsewhere, the Dingle family are set to face heartbreak when patriarch Zak Dingle (Steve Halliwell) sadly passes away, following the death of actor Steve Halliwell in December 2023.

According to Sophie, the character’s send off will be a fitting tribute to both Zak and Steve.

‘As many of you know we lost Steve recently, the very sad passing of Steve, so we’re going to be marking Zak’s passing, the iconic Zak Dingle character in the coming months with a Dingle funeral.

‘Very difficult for a lot of people who work on the show and for many of our viewers who have loved Zak for many, many years, but there’ll be a fitting tribute to such an iconic character coming up.’
