GET GONE Emmerdale fans demand ‘selfish’ character is axed as they ‘haven’t been likeable for years’
It comes after a shocking new relationship was revealed earlier this week
EMMERDALE fans have lashed out at soap bosses over “selfish” character Amelia Spencer, who they believe should be cut from the show.
Viewers feel the character of Amelia, played by Daisy Campbell, hasn’t “been likeable for years” and she needs to be axed.
Amelia has been at the centre of drama in Emmerdale in recent weeks as her baby daddy Samson Dingle (Sam Hall) was sent to prison. The teen mum also broke up with her boyfriend Noah (Jack Downham) before announcing a new relationship.
It came out in Tuesday night’s episode (3 September) that Amelia has been seeing Tom King (James Chase) for several weeks.
The villainous vet has relentlessly bullied and abused his wife Belle Dingle (Eden Taylor-Draper) for months, culminating in a calculated attack on her beloved dog Piper.
Things got worse for Belle after she finally worked up the strength to leave Tom, though.
In an attempt to rattle his estranged wife, Tom threatened and intimidated Belle once more, before it was revealed he’d been growing closer to 18-year-old Amelia.
But ITV viewers were left raging when Tom and Amelia’s romance was revealed. Many feel Daisy’s character has become incredibly grating, and some even went so far as to say they would prefer to see her axed than falling for Tom’s act.
Speaking out against her on Reddit, one Emmerdale fan said: “I really do not like Amelia.”
To which another replied: “Tell me about it!! Why the hell did she end up defending Tom while unaware he has abused Belle and poor Piper the dog?? She is cloud cuckoo land. She will realise in future months!”
“She hasn’t been likeable in years. Very selfish and gets her own way while jumping from thing to thing,” a third agreed, before a fourth chimed in: “She so whiny, maybe it’s her accent, it’s grating.”
“She sucks,” said another frustrated fan. “The way she treated Samson was abhorrent. She randomly jumped into Tom’s side of the Belle thing and now is dating a man a decade older, seemingly because she senses he’s abusive and is into it. Oh, and she yelled at a car for having the audacity to not run her down,” they added.
While a sixth viewer theorised: “I’m starting to think the reason she broke up with Noah over him calling the police on Samson was so that the relationship between Tom and her could happen.”
However, another fan called for others to take it easier on Amelia as they fear she is also being manipulated by Tom.
“To be fair, I think her being with Tom makes sense. People like him are able to convince everyone around him that the ex is the issue and not him. I’ve seen it countless times before. And then he starts seeing someone new and convinces them the ex was crazy and then they feel sorry for him and start gaining feelings. It’s textbook,” they said.
The viewer added: “She has started becoming a bit more annoying, but with the Tom storyline, things like this are easily done (even though it’s super icky that a man in his twenties started seeing someone when they were still 17).”
