Iain MacLeod, the new Executive Producer of the ITV soap, teased this year’s special. At the National Television Awards, Iain hinted that this Christmas will be one of the best ever for soap. He revealed that there will be a major surprise arrival on Christmas Day.
He added, “As well as some life-or-death jeopardy on Christmas Day, but obviously, there will be festive brilliance as we do every year, but I think it is one of the most exciting Christmases that I can remember on Emmerdale this year!” The maker mentioned that filming is set to begin soon and hinted at even more dramatic events in the New Year.
Iain noted that balancing drama and excitement with humour and festive cheer is challenging. However, he believes they’ve achieved the perfect mix this year. Looking ahead to 2025, it has been announced that the plans include the usual level of drama with heightened filming techniques.
There will also be deeply emotional family drama featuring plenty of Dingle storylines. Additionally, some classic intrigue with a touch of skullduggery is expected at Home Farm. Overall, 2025 is set to be incredibly exciting, with much more to come.
At the 2024 Television Awards, Emmerdale shocked everyone by winning the top prize for Serial Drama. Despite EastEnders having a fantastic year, Dales took the trophy. Moreover, even though everyone expected them to, EastEnders didn’t win in any category.
