Last week, Charity‘s trauma became so bad she stabbed Mackenzie in the stomach while having an episode, and then sat in a catatonic state while he bled out on the floor.

Mackenzie was rushed to hospital and went in for surgery, before being allowed home.

The couple reunited back at their house but during last night’s episode, a traumatised Charity asked Mack to move out while she dealt with her mental health problems.

As he apologised for not doing anything about her situation before the incident, she told him: “Don’t come near me.”

Mack insisted she needed help and should try counselling but she said: “Counselling won’t fix this. Not quickly anyway.

“Till I’m fixed, you can’t be here.”

A stunned Mackenzie replied: “Well this is my home too.”

But Charity said: “But are you not afraid that I’ll hurt you again? Or the kids even?”

Next time we might not be so lucky, so please just walk away while you can.”

Mack refused and said “I’m not leaving your side, and Charity responded: “You have to, or I’ll go somewhere that you won’t find me. You go, or I do.”

However, some Emmerdale viewers took issue with the scene, which is the latest in the Charity and Mack relationship saga.

Taking to X – formerly Twitter – one wrote: “Mack is TOXIC and once Charity does therapy it’ll become obvious. It’s one thing to be silent, but this is GASLIGHTING.”

Another Emmerdale fan responded: “Put the same dialogue in Tom’s mouth and its seen as abuse by the show.”

I’ve had to switch off, just utter ridiculous now.

The original poster replied: “Exactly. I think they’re telling the same story from two points of view. Belle and Tom are the inside look, while Charity and Mack are what outsiders typically see.”

They also shared a more detailed post listing all the things Mack had done to Charity over the past year or so, and captioned it: “I’m so done with this” alongside a crying emoji.

The post read: “For those struggling to find a reason to see this relationship as toxic, a little reminder. Apologies if the timelines are not quite right.”

They then reeled off at least 15 situations to make their point before finishing with: “I mean, I could go on but I’m just done with this.”

Their post got lots of responses from other viewers, with one writing: “Completely agree…totally ruined charity, I’ve had to switch off, just utter ridiculous now.”

Another replied: “But apparently it’s true love!!! Strangest version of love I’ve ever heard!!”

A third tweeted: “I agree #Emmerdale. Sort this out. This has been mind numbing.

“Charity and Vanessa have never talked about what happened and she is back in her abuse pattern Get your best actor into better role status.”

Emmerdale airs on ITV1 and is available on ITVX.
