Emmerdale Cain’s fate sealed after attack – but fans can’t forgive ‘spiteful’ move

Emmerdale's Cain woke up in hospital bed after being attacked by nephew Aaron – but fans have sided with the troubled character after some unforgivable words were exchanged

Emmerdale fans have blasted Cain for sharing some “spiteful” words with nephew Aaron.

Things have been strained between the two since Aaron (Danny Miller) returned to the village in October. But things came to a head last week when they ended up in a physical fight. After Cain (Jeff Hordley) mentioned Aaron’s late sister Liv, he lashed out and left his uncle in hospital.

At the beginning of Monday’s episode (January 29) Cain (Jeff Hordley) woke up in hospital having survived the attack. However, he was informed that he had bruising on the brain.Aaron attempted to dig for information on Cain was through Mackenzie (Lawrence Robb), claiming he only punched him because he was provoked. Later in the episode, Chas (Lucy Pargeter) gathered the family in The Woolpack.

Although Aaron’s presence was clearly unwelcomed, Chas insisted she wanted him there. In the emotional scenes, Chas finally informed her family of her breast cancer diagnosis.

As the Dingle’s processed the news, Aaron’s eyes filled with tears as he attempted to keep his emotions to himself. Cain then turned to Aaron and asked if he had anything to say on the matter.

When Aaron responded with silence, Cain delivered a harsh blow to his nephew. “Coward, just like your dad,” he said. Aaron simply nodded his head before making a hasty exit from the pub.

Despite Aaron’s destructive behaviour since returning to the village, fans pointed out that Cain comparing Aaron to his rapist father was one step too far. Sharing their thoughts on X, formerly known as Twitter, one fumed: “Cain comparing Aaron to Gordon was absolutely disgusting, what a evil thing to say.”

Another agreed: “I was on Cain’s side until he said that about Gordon.” A third said: “Aaron’s character used to be my favourite and ever since his return I actually cannot stand him – but saying that Cain comparing him to his dad was so uncalled for knowing what he did to him.”

A fourth viewer fumed: “Oh you absolute f***er Cain!! … No wonder her walked away! as I would have punched you again and put you 6 feet under for comparing Aaron to his dad!!” Someone else weighed in: “Aaron may be acting like a pain in the butt- but he is NOTHING like his dad.”
