Emmerdale confirms proposal in Charles and Manpreet storyline
Manpreet feels pressured by Charles and Claudette.
Emmerdale has confirmed that a big proposal is on the horizon for Charles Anderson and Manpreet Sharma, as Charles makes a major decision.
In scenes that will air on the soap next week, Charles’ mum Claudette suggests in a rather unsubtle way that vicar Charles and Manpreet would make a better impression on the new bishop if they were married.
This leads Charles to imply to the bishop that he and Manpreet do already have plans to walk down the aisle.

Later in the week, Charles plucks up the courage to propose to Manpreet in the Woolpack.
Bewildered Manpreet feels pressured into saying yes to his marriage proposal, while eager Gail Loman announces the good news to the entire pub.
Is marriage really what Manpreet wants, or could the couple be heading for disaster?

Manpreet and Charles are currently enjoying their second attempt at a relationship, following their first romance many years ago before either lived in the village, during which Manpreet was living a double life.
They got back together in 2021 in the midst of Manpreet’s sister Meena Jutla’s murderous rampage, but faced further relationship trouble last year after the death of Charles’ dad Victor.
With Charles left feeling guilty over his attempts to frame Victor for a crime, he lashed out and turned violent in the pub, leaving Manpreet heartbroken.
However, Charles star Kevin Mathurin explained that he thinks his character and Manpreet are “solid”, saying, “Sometimes you would say things that you know you can only get away with in a relationship, which sometimes could be going a bit too far!”
