Emmerdale fans ‘solve’ Ella’s true link to killer Meena as her real name revealed
Emmerdale viewers finally learned who Ella Forster really was, it seems, on Thursday night as her secret was exposed on the ITV soap, and now fans think her link to Meena is clear
Emmerdale fans think Ella Forster’s real link to killer Meena Jutla has been revealed, following her secret finally being exposed on Thursday.
The ITV soap aired what Ella had been hiding for months in the latest episode, and with this we learned of Ella’s true identity. We appeared to find out Ella’s real name too, following news of a tragic death.
The funeral of new character June was held in the episode, this being the woman Ella was visiting in the care home. While there’s still loads more to be revealed, scenes at the service confirmed Ella was lying about June being her mother.
Her partner Liam Cavanagh had attended the funeral only to be told June’s daughter died years earlier, with her name being Joanne. Viewers had already seen this name along with the name Ruth, after seeing a snap of two young girls.

With Joanne dead and then Ella, known to the family, being outed as a “child killer”, viewers suspected this meant Ella caused the death of the young girl. Amid many questions surfacing, some fans also worked out Ella’s real name was probably Ruth.
In the scene, one angry family member shouted: “It should be you in that hole, not her! You’re scum, you’re a murderer, child killer!” The camera panned onto the grave next to June’s, where it appeared to be her late daughter as it read “Joanne Phillips, 3rd March 1994 to 22nd August 2005”.
Taking to social media, fans worked out Ella was probably Ruth and that while it wasn’t Meena in the photo after all, as suspected earlier on, Ella was possibly still linked to Meena. Clues had included her best friend being a nurse, her freaking out when Meena was mentioned and the newspaper article she had of Meena and her victims.
Viewers are convinced the pair do know each other, and that they likely met in prison while this has not been revealed. One fan posted: “So Ella/Ruth met Meena in prison, probably…”
Another added: “So if Joanne is dead then she must be Ruth but they both looked the same age on the picture, so how can she be a child killer? So she must have met Meena in prison.” A third fan added: “I think she is still linked to Meena, I bet they were in the same prison.”
Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX, with an hour-long episode on Thursdays.
