John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth) made quite the impact during his visit to the Emmerdale village.
We actually met John yesterday. During Aaron’s (Danny Miller) drive to a hotel to meet his date, John flagged him down while at the side of a country road.
As John revealed his van had broken and he needed to borrow Aaron’s phone to call a garage, it was then confirmed Aaron was looking at the person he was meant to be meeting at the hotel.
After Aaron fixed John’s van and slept with him in the back, he asked the new face if he’d like to meet up again.
John said yes but just as Aaron left to go to the loo, he heard John’s van starting up.
As he watched John drive away, a frustrated Aaron had no choice but to ring Mackenzie (Lawrence Robb) and reveal his so-called date had ran off with his wallet and the keys to Pollard’s (Chris Chittell) stolen car.
In tonight’s episode, Vic (Isabel Hodgins) drove Eric to a funeral. Not wanting to intrude, Vic parked herself on a bench and decided to talk to John, who was sat beside her.
John’s identity was only confirmed because he introduced himself to Eric using his full name. As Vic reeled from the shock she was looking at a Sugden, she quickly worked out John might be her half-brother.
After the funeral, Vic confronted John again. She tried to open up about their relatives including Robert and Andy, but was hurt because John didn’t really seem interested in hearing what she had to say.
John then left and for Vic, she thought that was the last she had seen of her new family member.
A little while later though, as John headed down another country road, his van broke. He googled the nearest garage, which just so happened to be Barton and Dingle, bringing John to the village for the first time.
As Vic and Pollard found John, she wasted no time in revealing his family connection to Aaron. This resulted in a very awkward exchange, as Aaron failed to tell Vic he had just slept with his ex-husband’s sibling.
Good to keep it in the family, we guess.
Vic told John that he could stay the night at her house while he waited for his van to get fixed. He was reluctant to accept her offer but with nowhere else to go, John eventually said yes.
Back at the garage, John’s anger started to grow when Cain (Jeff Hordley) revealed it’s actually going to take a few days to get his van fixed.
Stuck in the village, John headed off but was confronted by Aaron.
Seemingly under the impression their meeting had been set up because John is a Sugden, Aaron tried to scare him but got firmly put in his place when John delivered a brutal punch to his stomach.
So, John is sticking around – for now.
He’s already clashed with a few people – what does the future hold for this new face?
