Jai Sharma (Chris Bisson) is bearing a huge grudge in Emmerdale.

Since he discovered that his biological father Amit (Anil Goutam) was present at the moment his dad Rishi (Bhasker Patel) fell to his death down the stairs at Holdgate, Jai has had a grievance against Amit.

Amit has always insisted that Rishi’s death was purely an accident, but he fled the scene when he realised there was nothing he could do and his presence would look suspicious.

Without any evidence either way we only have his word for it. Most people who know about the incident are inclined to give Amit the benefit of the doubt, but Jai has stubbornly refused to have anything to do with his father, even resigning from his job at the Hide when Amit bought a stake in the business.

In upcoming episodes Suni (Brahmdeo Shannon Ramana) spots an opportunity to mend the strained-to-breaking relationship between his brother and his father.

It’s his birthday and Nicky (Lewis Cope) and Ruby (Beth Cordingly) have organised a party. Suni invites Jai, and reassures him that Amit won’t be attending, so Jai agrees to come to the party.

The party starts really well with Suni having a great time after Nicky and Ruby put a lot of effort into making the event special for him.

The mood changes, however, when Amit arrives. Jai is obviously unhappy to see him there after being reassured that he wouldn’t have to deal with Amit.

Eventually Amit agrees that he’ll keep the peace by leaving the party. But before he goes, he gives Jai and Suni an envelope.

The brothers are gobsmacked when they open the envelope to find it’s Amit’s will – and he’s left his shares in the HOP to them jointly.

It’s a disturbing revelation for Jai, and things take another turn when he gets a mysterious text message.

Is it Amit checking up on how his ‘birthday gift’ was received? Or is something else going on?

Most importantly – can Jai trust anything Amit says?
