Chas Dingle’s (Lucy Pargeter) cancer diagnosis tale in Emmerdale has already brought along several twists and turns, from the way it was discovered at the hands of Liam Cavanagh (Jonny McPherson) to learning that it is the result of a faulty gene that her family may carry too.
Chas is barely coping with the knowledge she could go the same way as her mum, especially with the fear of leaving Eve, and knowing that any one of her loved ones could develop it too has been a real kicker.
But despite the concern of what this might mean for the Dingles, Aaron for one has no intention of getting tested to find out if he has the faulty gene too.
This gets back to Chas via a big-mouthed Vinny (Bradley Johnson) and she is fuming that Aaron could be so cavalier with his own health and insensitive to her battle.
Aaron (Danny Miller) immediately turns on Vinny, forcing Lydia (Karen Blick) to intervene and stop things escalating.
She brings Aaron back down to Earth by revealing that while he’s vying for a bout of fisticuffs, his mum is preparing for an appointment that day.
And it is a big appointment where Chas makes the life-changing decision to get ahead of her cancer.
Aaron attends with her where she reveals she wants to have a double mastectomy.
It’s a drastic move but one that could ensure her future. She seems strong and resolute, but later the emotions hit her in a moment where she reveals she is truly terrified.
Seeing her fear written all over face, Aaron relents and requests a referral to get the gene test.
