Caleb’s Devious Plan Revealed as Ruby’s Estranged Mother Reaches Out
In the upcoming episodes, Ruby’s estranged mom, Helen, desperately tries to reconnect with her daughter after 30 years. Previously, fans saw a mysterious call for Ruby right after she left the hospital after the barn fire. However, her husband, Caleb, picked up and warned them to stop calling.
Actor William Ash reveals that Helen and her husband completely cut Ruby out of their lives because they didn’t like her relationship with Caleb. He describes Helen’s call as completely unexpected. Due to Helen’s past manipulative behaviour, Caleb has lost trust in anything she says.
However, his character decides to attend the meeting to find out what she wants, thinking that if she is on her deathbed, Ruby might need closure. But it turns out that this is not the case. As it becomes apparent that Helen doesn’t have much time left, Caleb takes advantage of the situation to make some money.
He wants to raise enough funds to secure Jimmy King’s share of the haulage firm. The soap star shares that Caleb’s actions might seem devious, but he justifies them as being for the greater good. Ash says, “He goes “Right if you want to see your daughter, I want some money off you.”
Caleb rationalises his actions by thinking that Ruby will never receive any inheritance from Helen, so he decides to make Helen pay for her past wrongs. The ITV star suggests that while Caleb’s actions may seem cunning, he views them as retribution for past wrongs.
Meanwhile, he notes that Caleb is fearful because Helen has always caused Ruby pain, and Ruby becomes very emotional whenever her family is mentioned. Consequently, Caleb is determined to protect her as much as possible. However, William acknowledges that Ruby may not perceive it this way once she learns the truth.

According to the actor, Caleb is aware Ruby will likely be outraged to discover he visited Helen behind her back. He adds, “The stakes are massive at that moment.” He also reveals that meeting Helen will allow viewers to explore Ruby’s character more deeply as they have only touched the surface with Ruby.
