Emmerdale stalwart Eric Pollard (Chris Chittell)’s roguish side has resurfaced recently as he swindled Kerry Wyatt (Laura Norton) out of a considerable amount of money.

Kerry had returned from months of working on a cruise ship as a Cher tribute act – and she’d helped herself to a little bit of a payout before she left. We learned she’d been in a relationship with a wealthy elderly man who believed (pun intended) that she was the actual Cher.

He’d promised her all his money, so when she left she brought some pieces of expensive jewellery with her, deciding it was what she was owed.

She planned to use the money she got from selling the items to pay for her daughter Amy (Natalie Ann Jamieson)’s wedding to Matty Barton (Ash Palmisciano) – and pushed the boat out by making sure the wedding was going to be a lavish and expensive affair.

After all, she had a lot of making up to do for just walking out on Amy to go on the cruise.

When she took the most valuable piece of jewellery, a necklace, to Eric Pollard for a valuation he crushed her by saying the item was worthless. He later arranged for a friend of his to buy it for far less than it was worth – and pocketed the cash himself.

He played the hero by paying for the wedding himself when it looked like it would have to be cancelled – but has told Kerry she has to pay him back with interest.

This has left Kerry in a terrible position, with a massive debt and with Amy furious at her for breaking all her promises about the wedding and apparently letting her down once again.

In upcoming episodes Kerry becomes suspicious of Eric and decides to look for some evidence that he’s deceived her.

She tricks her way into his barn and manages to get into his laptop – where she finds the proof she was looking for that he sold her necklace for a fortune.

She’d obviously furious and decides to take revenge. She convinces Tracy (Amy Walsh) to let her run a cash-only sale at the shop – and soon customers are helping themselves to the incredible bargains on offer at Pollard’s usually rather pricey shop.

How will Pollard react when he gets back and finds a free-for-all taking place – and realises that Kerry knows all about what he did and has taken her revenge?
