Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller) came back to Emmerdale in 2023 an angry, violent man, ready to lash out at practically everybody.

His anger stemmed from the death of his little sister Liv (Isobel Steele), who was killed during the violent storm of October 2022. Aaron blamed his mum Chas (Lucy Pargeter) for Liv’s death because of her affair with Al Chapman (Michael Wildman) and his behaviour towards Chas since his return has been appalling.

He’s also been a nightmare to former friend Vinny Dingle (Bradley Johnson), injuring him and terrifying him as he demanded the money he inherited from Liv.

There’s another feud that has been simmering away in the background, and that’s with his uncle Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley).

It was Cain – with the help of Caleb (William Ash) – who brought Aaron back to the Dales, kidnapping him from Italy to save him from the destructive spiral where he was going to either kill someone or be killed himself.

This tension is about to erupt spectacularly, with Emmerdale boss Laura Shaw previously predicting ‘a really brutal physical fight between Cain and Aaron in the new year.’

This violence explodes as a result of Aaron’s car stealing activities, which we’ve seen him also getting Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb) involved in.

Aaron brings another stolen car to the garage, apparently intent on needling Cain. Sure enough, when Cain realises what’s going on he’s furious with Aaron, particularly as Aaron taunts him by offering to sell a car to Samson (Sam Hall), which Cain assumes is also stolen.

It seems that Aaron won’t be content until he’s provoked Cain into all-out war and he continues to goad his uncle, even going so far as to steal Cain’s own car.

Before falling foul of Cain, Aaron falls foul of the law when the police spot him driving a car with no licence plates and he’s taken in for questioning about a recent spate of car thefts.

It’s times like those that the Dingle Code usually kicks in and the family pull together to help one of their own. But Aaron is very far from taking any help from his family and continues to disrespect Cain.

And, as everyone predicted, he eventually pushes Cain too far and the two men have a brutal fight in the garage – with devastating consequences.

As Laura Shaw said, ‘We’ll have to wait and see if both of them come out still standing.’
