Kim Tate (Claire King) was on hand to give some much-needed advice to Ruby Fox-Milligan (Beth Cordingly) and Mary Goskirk (Louise Jameson) in Wednesday’s (March 6) episode of Emmerdale.

When it comes to Ruby, all she has focused on since learning of Caleb and Tracy’s (Amy Walsh) affair is revenge. Ruby loves Caleb dearly and has done for years, but feels threatened by his emotional connection to Tracy and wants to get rid of her pronto.

A few days ago, she paid a visit to Home Farm to get Kim on board. After Caleb tried to destroy Kim and spectacularly failed, she’s been waiting for the perfect opportunity to get her own back.

In tonight’s episode, Ruby spotted Caleb and Tracy talking outside of the shop.

When Kim approached from the café, Ruby told her that ‘tramp needs her lights punching out’. Kim reminded her new friend that picking a fight in the street wasn’t the answer – Ruby is far too clever for that.

Given food for thought, Ruby later confronted Caleb and told him that he needed to do something to prove that he truly loves her.

Elsewhere, in the pub, Mary (Louise Jameson) faced an awkward conversation with Suzy (Martelle Edinborough). The two friends have secretly developed feelings for each other, but the possibility of a romance was put in jeopardy when Vanessa (Michelle Hardwick) returned from Canada.

After Suzy spent the night on Vanessa’s sofa, she knew addressing their relationship was important, but she couldn’t stop thinking about Mary.

During a chat, Suzy asked Mary how she felt about her. Aware of what was going on, Mary prevented herself from any possible hurt and told Suzy that she’s a good friend.

Oh dear.

As Suzy headed off to The Hide, believing that Mary never had any romantic feelings for her, Kim had picked up on her friend’s bad mood.

In the kitchen, Kim confronted Mary and offered some home truths. She told her pal to stop painting herself as a sad lady and if she wants something, she needs to fight for it.

Mary smiled, but what will she do next?

After Kim’s advice, will both of these women get what they want?
