Emmerdale star Danny Miller offers update on ‘Robron’ reunion – and fans may be disappointed

Robert Sugden was last seen in the Yorkshire Dales in 2019, after he was sentenced for killing his sister Victoria's rapist. Could this be the rock Aaron Dingle needs?

Two life-changing bombshells were dropped on Aaron Dingle in recent Emmerdale instalments and he is terrified by the thought that his days could be numbered.

With so much on the line, the troublemaker is in need of all the support he can get and ITV viewers have been begging bosses to bring his ex-husband Robert Sugden back to the eponymous village.

Rumours about Ryan Hawley potentially reprising the role have been swirling around on social media but during a chat with the Loose Women panel on Tuesday (April 2, 2024), months after causing a stir on the show with his wife Steph, Aaron star Danny Miller admitted that a “Robron” reunion was not on the cards.

The 33-year-old soap star was asked if Aaron will be reunited with his husband soon as the character seems to be left on the brink of sanity after being diagnosed with the same gene mutation that caused his mother’s triple negative breast cancer.

Danny Miller, Loose Women

Danny Miller was back on the set of Loose Women this Tuesday and dashed hopes of an upcoming ‘Robron’ reunion

Danny was upfront about soap bosses’ plans as he insisted there wasn’t “anything imminent” for Robert to finally return to the Dales.

“For me, as an actor, Ryan coming back as Robert would be great”, Danny first stated, “but I know he’s got a young family himself and he’s off doing bits and bobs himself so maybe one day we’ll be able to tempt him back. But not anything imminent.”

Ryan mostly keeps the lid on his personal life with wife Daisy Prestes de Oliveira with whom he shares a young son, born in 2021. Four years following his exit from the long-running ITV drama, Ryan bagged a new role in late 2023, as he moved on from the Dales with the role of a farmer named Sid Crabtree in All Creatures Great And Small for Channel 5.

Meanwhile, Danny tries his best to balance his own home life with childhood sweetheart and wife Steph Jones, whom he married during a stunning Cheshire ceremony in 2022, and their two children.

The actor briefly spoke about how he manages to “switch off” from his alternative on-screen life on the set of Loose Women. “Family for me has changed my life”, he revealed, “that’s a reason to go home and to forget your worries regardless and put your focus on there. That’s the way I switch off and make myself happy.”

Steph and Danny received a high amount of praise in August, 2023, following another appearance on the set of Loose Women during which the pair discussed challenges they had faced during both of their pregnancies.

But things took a turn when Steph breastfed her young daughter on live telly, which resulted in a small Twitter storm with some fans praising the young mother and a handful of others expressing their discomfort.

Fans may have to wait before they can finally get the reunion they’ve been pining over for months just as Aaron continues to dodge consequences for his actions on our screens. As mentioned, Aaron was recently diagnosed with the BRCA 2 gene mutation but he has kept the truth to himself after learning that both of his uncles, Cain Dingle and Caleb Milligan, received the all-clear.

ITV aired shocking scenes on Monday (April 1, 2024) as Aaron allowed his temper to get the best of him and attacked Dr Liam Cavanagh (Jonny McPherson), which sent fans into a frenzy on social media.

Liam found out that Aaron had lied about his diagnosis to Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter) and tried to encourage him to speak out. Will Aaron come to his senses and finally face Chas with the truth?
