Emmerdale star Dominic Brunt explains Paddy’s major betrayal

Emmerdale star Dominic Brunt has opened up about his character Paddy Dingle’s major betrayal.
In scenes airing next week, Paddy will make a big confession to girlfriend Mandy Dingle when he admits that he kissed his estranged wife, Chas Dingle.
In a new interview with Inside Soap, Brunt explained that the kiss was just Paddy’s way of comforting Chas, who has been having a hard time since being diagnosed with breast cancer in January.
“Paddy and Chas have been through so much. I think he says to Mandy, ‘Look, I do love her and I always will. But it’s a different kind of love,'” he shared.
“He’s not very emotionally articulate. It’s a mistake, which he does with good intentions. It wasn’t going to go any further. As soon as he does it, he stops. It was literally just to comfort her.”
Brunt went on to explain how Mandy is the “absolute love” of Paddy’s life, adding: “I think he’s always been in love with her – I don’t think he ever got over her.”
“I think that’s why he goes and tells her straight away. Now that they’re back together again forever, he’s frightened that it’s messed up,” he continued.
“But I’ve been so lucky because I worked with Lisa Riley [Mandy] for years, then Zoe Henry [Rhona Goskirk] and Lucy Pargeter [Chas] – I feel blessed to work with three incredible actors.”
The actor also said that he’d love to see Paddy and Mandy get married if they ever manage to “resolve this kiss”, though he did add that he’s not quite sure “what happens in the future”, as they’ve only just finished filming.
