Emmerdale fans have speculated that Nicola could be leaving the Dales following Angelica’s confession.
On New Year’s Eve, Heath Hope (Sebastian Dowling) was killed in a car accident. It was believed his twin sister Cathy Hope (Gabrielle Dowling) was driving and caused the crash, however, she denied being behind the wheel when police questioned her about the incident.
Cathy pointed the finger at Angelica (Rebecca Bakes), but she also denied being the one driving at the time. During Thursday’s episode (January 19) of the ITV soap, emotions were running high as Heath was laid to rest.The residents of the Yorkshire Dales, including Heath’s dad Bob Hope (Tony Audenshaw) and sister Cathy, paid their respects to their beloved family member. After the funeral, Nicola King (Nicola Wheeler) found Angel standing by Heath’s grave.
“I went home to check on you and just wondered where you’d got to,” she said to her daughter. Angel asked how Heath’s funeral was, to which Nicola replied: “Heartbreaking.”
Nicola continued: “You and Elliot made the right decision not to come. I just feel so grateful that it wasn’t either of you that we said goodbye to today.” Angel responded: “It might be. I could go to prison. I’m sorry.” Nicola insisted she wouldn’t be going to prison as she did nothing wrong.
Her daughter then dropped the bombshell that she was driving the car at the time of Heath’s death, not Cathy. Fans are now certain that Nicola will keep the truth to herself in a bid to protect her daughter, suggesting she could even flee the village.
One wrote: “Wouldn’t be surprised if Nicola legs it with Angelica to stop this from coming out.” A second added: “Angelica has finally admitted to Nicola it was her driving that killed Heath but I bet you she’s gonna keep it quiet to protect her daughter.”
Another agreed: “Yeah can’t see ever so morally righteous Nicola coming forward anytime soon with the truth about the car crash.” A fourth weighed in: “I hope that Nicola gets caught trying to cover things up for Angel. Perverting the course of justice should put an end to her council ambitions.”
Someone else shared: “Nicola needs to get Angel out of there before she tells anyone else the truth.” While a sixth claimed: “No way is Nicola going to let her tell the truth to anyone else.”
