Emmerdale star Paula Lane responds to Ella and Meena theories
Is the village newcomer linked to the serial killer?
Emmerdale actor Paula Lane has responded to fan theories that her character Ella Forster is linked to Meena Jutla.
Ella recently turned up in the village and made an impression with her feisty attitude, landed herself a job at the doctors surgery, and embarked on a blossoming romance with Dr Liam Cavanagh.
But Paula teased last month that Ella has a dark secret in her past, without revealing what it is, leading to plenty of guesses from fans, with a common one being that she has something to do with the hugely-memorable serial killer Meena, who has been locked away for her crimes.

In an Instagram Stories Q&A this week, Paula responded to a question mentioning Meena, and said: “I’ve been howling at all the speculation!”
While the implication seems to be that guesses about a Meena link are way off, Paula might have found it funny that fans have figured it out so quickly. Maybe that’s just wishful thinking, though.
When she teased that there was something dark in Ella’s past, she said that: “She does have responsibilities elsewhere outside the village that mean a great deal to her and I’m so looking forward to exploring this further.

“When something or someone so important to her is put at risk she will fight so hard to protect that situation. This is a part of her we’ve yet to see and there is currently a lot at stake and a lot to fight for.”
Whatever Ella’s secret turns out to be, Paula has promised fans that it will be “worth the wait”.
