Emmerdale star return ‘confirmed’ as Moira floors Charity with killer confession
Emmerdale viewers have speculated about a return for Adam Barton after more than six years away from the Dales as his mum Moira opened up about murdering Emma Barton
Emmerdale favourite Adam Barton could be set to return to the soap after Moira made a shocking confession.
Adam, played by Adam Thomas from 2009 until 2018, hasn’t been seen for more than six years since he was forced to go on the run. Back in 2017, Emma Barton (Gillian Kearney) died after falling from the Hotten Viaduct.It was later revealed she was pushed by Moira (Natalie J Robb). Only a select few knew that Moira was Emma’s real killer, but after police discovered her death wasn’t a suicide, Adam covered for his mother.
On his way to prison, best pal Aaron (Danny Miller) and step-dad Cain (Jeff Hordley) helped him escape before he fled the country. Adam has been living a life on the run for years, but fans believe that could be about to change.
Last week, Moira confessed to Charity (Emma Atkins) that she killed Emma. Charity has been struggling with her demons since Christmas Day, after she accidentally killed Chloe’s dad, Harry.
Moira headed to Charity’s to check up on her. Charity tried to force Moira to leave but ended up breaking down. She told her: “You’re exhausted Charity. You’re not a killer. If it wasn’t in anger, then you’re not a killer.”
“What would you know?” Charity snapped back. Moira confessed all to Charity, revealing: “Everything. Because I did do it in anger. I am a killer. What I did was much worse.”
She continued: “You don’t need to know who. It tore me to pieces but I’m still here. That’s all I’m trying to say to you Charity. Cain saved me. I hadn’t slept for weeks. Mine wasn’t a gunshot, mine was a push. And it played in my mind on a loop until I didn’t know what was happening anymore.”
Moira eventually confirmed it was Emma who she killed, insisting it was no accident. “Adam took the blame. I killed Emma Barton and I meant it,” she said.
A shocked Charity responded: “I thought you were going to tell me about something when you were younger. You pushed her so why did Adam go on the run?”
Moira explained: “He was already a prime suspect. I confessed to the police. I told them everything but they thought I was just a mum trying to protect her son. And Adam didn’t want Isaac to grow up without his mum so he protected me.”
Fans have now speculated about a possible return for Adam, with one writing: “I hope Adam comes back to #Emmerdale one day once his Waterloo Road commitments have died down. Or he could return as a recast.”
“We need Adam back,” declared a second. Another agreed: “Now that Moira’s told Charity about Emma can Adam come back?”
