Emmerdale viewers make desperate plea to ITV soap bosses and call for major change

A major shake-up to the ITV soap this week has left many viewers calling for a permanent change amid a dramatic week on the show, with fans reaching out to the soap with a plea

Emmerdale fans have called for a major change to the ITV soap, after a shake-up this week.

The soap has changed things lightly amid Coronation Street airing a big week, with Britain’s Got Talent also airing the live semi-finals. The show used to air for half an hour at 7PM every night, with an hour-long episode on Thursdays.

But in 2022 the soap moved to the new time slot of 7:30pm every night, causing a clash with BBC soap EastEnders. The move did not go down well with many viewers, so they were thrilled to find out this week the soap was back to the 7PM slot.

For this week only, Emmerdale airs at 7PM followed by Corrie at 7:30PM for half an hour, with BGT then on at 8PM all week. But fans were quick to plead with soap bosses to make the move permanent.Wanting the show to air in its old time slot again full-time, fans took to social media to beg the show to make it happen. One viewer said online: “Wish you would put it back to 7pm permanently.”

Another fan agreed: “Don’t like the hour long news, sometimes they just spend the whole hour repeating everything. Bring back Emmerdale at 7pm. Pleaseeeeeee.” A third fan said: “I would love it to go back to 7pm!”

A third viewer posted: “I agree it’s better at 7pm,” while a fourth fan said: “I stopped watching it after it went from 7 pm.” A further comment read: “Yes, back to the old time for a few days. This is much better, as it doesn’t mess up the evenings viewing. It would be interesting to know why you changed it to 7.30 in the first place!”

It comes following some deadly scenes on the ITV soap this week, as one character was shockingly killed off. Another character is tipped to go down for their murder, after injuring them in a hit and run last week.

Ethan Anderson collapsed and was rushed to hospital in recent scenes, but sadly his life could not be saved. Meanwhile fans were also sickened as Tom King went to desperate lengths to bring Belle Dingle home.

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX, with an hour-long episode on Thursdays.
