Emmerdale viewers predict big return after spotting ‘clues’ in set pictures
Fans of ITV soap Emmerdale think Robert Sugden - who was played by actor Ryan Hawley - could be heading back to the Dales despite the fact the character was jailed for 14 years
Emmerdale viewers reckon they have worked out that Ryan Hawley is set to return to the ITV soap.
The actor starred as Robert Sugden from 2014 to 2019, becoming the fourth person to play the character. But he left when his soap alter ego was locked up for murdering Lee Posner (Kris Mochrie), the man who attacked his half-sister Victoria (Isabel Hodgins).
Ryan was slapped with a 14-year jail term so viewers didn’t expect to see him back in the Dales any time soon. However, a couple of recent hints have many people thinking that he could be returning after all.
Fuelling rumours about a possible comeback, the soap recently shared a few snaps of the Mill flat, Aaron’s pad. A message on X included a string of shots of the plush apartment, with the caption: “First look at The Mill flat!”
The images got people talking and some people wondered why ITV would flag up the flat unless it was going to be the backdrop for some big scenes – leading some to speculate about it being to do with Robert. “Aaron will live there with Robert when he comes back,” one viewer posted on X.
“Can’t wait to see Robron living in this beautiful set,” said another, using the nickname that fans had for Robert and Aaron when they were a couple. “Either Aaron’s taste for interior design went up a notch or Robert the Decorator styled his flat,” mused another fan.
Someone else posted: “Zooming into the 4 pics to look for clues of Robert being in Aaron’s thoughts ie a pic… a white fruit bowl, anything…”
Someone else suggested: “Hopefully audience will see Aaron flat more often? Maybe if Aaron gets a love interest audience see it more.” “Is Robert Sugden headed back to Emmerdale, I hope so,” someone else commented.
