Emmerdale’s Billy Fletcher to clash with Kim Tate over his future

Can they get on the same page?

Emmerdale‘s Billy Fletcher faces more tensions with Kim Tate next week as he pushes ahead with his change in career direction.

Billy faces stern opposition from Kim as he tries to focus on being a personal trainer again.

Over the past couple of years, Billy has worked for Kim as estate manager at Home Farm.

The pair recently clashed when Kim accused Billy of slacking off on the job. Kim made it clear that she was only giving Billy a second chance because of their family connection, but Billy was left questioning whether he wanted to continue in the role at all.

Next week, Kim harshly dismisses Billy’s intentions when he vows to concentrate on being a PT.

Billy already has backing from local vicar Charles Anderson, who’s prepared to let him use the village hall for training sessions, but Kim still isn’t interested.

Charles’ partner Manpreet Sharma encourages Billy to stand up to Kim, rather than letting her walk all over him. Can Billy muster up the courage to challenge her?

The tensions at Home Farm come before an emotional new storyline for Billy and his wife Dawn.

Show bosses recently confirmed that the couple’s baby son Evan will be diagnosed with leukaemia in the coming weeks. The storyline will include some focus on the financial pressures the pair face as they try to focus on being there for Evan.

Emmerdale producer Laura Shaw recently told us: “What we really wanted to show with this story is what a stress and strain a long-term illness like this can put on a family.

“What we’ll see is how the roles of Dawn and Billy are changed almost overnight and out of nowhere. We’ll see how Lucas and Clemmie are affected and the stress that it puts on those sibling dynamics.

“We’ll see how this affects Billy and Dawn’s relationship, the wider family in Kim and Will, and all of their friends.

“There’s also the financial pressure that looking after a child long-term like that can put on a whole family. That’s going to be a big story for us going forward.”

Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV1, and streams on ITVX.
