Emmerdale’s Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter) decides to take a break from the village next week after opening up to her family about her heartbreaking cancer diagnosis.
In recent scenes, the Woolpack barmaid was was given the results that she has triple negative breast cancer, no doubt giving her fears about the future as her mum Faith Dingle (Sally Dexter) died of breast cancer in sad scenes to mark the soap’s 50th anniversary.Furtive Liam and Chas talk about her prognosis next week and he’s concerned that she’s keen to keep her cancer a secret. Liam tries to reassure Chas telling her family is the best option and finally a galvanised Chas, makes the decision to tell them.Later at the pub, as the family argue, Chas explains what is going on and everybody reels from her heartbreaking news and the shocked yet supportive family gather around Chas, except for her son Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller) who keeps his distance.
Chas’ heart breaks as Aaron walks away and she’s further heartbroken to realise he intends to leave. Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb) rushes over to him determined to make him see sense and tries to get through to Aaron, who is irritated when Mack continues to offer his support and follows him. Aaron tells him he doesn’t want to talk. Can Mackenzie get Aaron to change his tune?
Paddy Kirk (Dominic Brunt) and Chas decide on how best to let their young daughter Eve know of her diagnosis and soon sit the youngster down to gently explain the cancer. The following day, siblings Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordly) and Chas get together and poignantly reflect on their lives. Chas admits she’s frightened about her cancer but thankful they have found it early.
Paddy is disappointed when Chas says she wants to take Eve on holiday without him but the family gather on the street to see Chas off for her holiday and she’s shocked when Mandy Dingle (Lisa Riley) hands her a wad of cash from Paddy. Fans will have to want and see how long Chas stays away from the village.
