Emmerdale’s Liam Cavanagh and Ella Forster confronted over workplace chemistry

Manpreet isn't happy.

Emmerdale spoilers follow.

Emmerdale tonight continued what looks like a blossoming relationship between Liam Cavanagh and Ella Forster.

Previously, Liam had begun flirting with newcomer Ella, who had just begun working at the doctor’s surgery. GP Liam was previously confirmed to have a new relationship interest in Ella after she was offered a job at the newly opened surgery at Brook Cottage.

Ella was invited to join the surgery as the new receptionist by Manpreet. Early in tonight’s (March 18) episode, Liam continued flirting with Emma and he helped her out when she was struggling with getting into the surgery.

Their cute interaction, which sparked genuine chemistry, was witnessed by fellow doctor Manpreet, however, who said that she sincerely hoped their friendship was only friendship and nothing more.

Later, Manpreet sat down with Liam, Emma, and Wendy to have a discussion about “appropriate behaviour in the workplace.”

Manpreet then presented a hypothetical scenario between two fictional employees striking up a romantic connection. Manpreet posed the question that if one fictional employee were to comfort another one with her favourite gifts and treats, would it be appropriate?

Emma said the scenario sounded sweet while Wendy was caught in the middle. Wendy said that if the situation continued and became distracting for other employees, then it would be inappropriate.

Liam, understanding the real meaning behind the meeting, pressed Manpreet for an explanation. Emma excused herself from the meeting while Liam became agitated and defended himself.

Previously, Emma actress Paula Lane said a new relationship would occur in the surgery: “There might be some fireworks, there’s a little bit of competition, perhaps. There’s a little love triangle going on. But behind closed doors, who knows what can happen?”

Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV1, and streams on ITVX.
