Emmerdale star Matthew Wolfenden has opened up about the horrific messages he’s received after his split.

Last year, the David Metcalfe actor parted ways with his wife and Debbie Dingle actress Charley Webb. Since then, he has received an abundance of cruel messages online.

In November, Charley shared a statement to announce the pair’s split, which read: “It is with love and respect that Matthew and I have decided to separate. We remain friends and our priority is the love for our children. For their sake, we would appreciate privacy at this time.”

Matthew shared an almost identical post to update his followers. However, not long after it was revealed he was in a new relationship with a personal trainer c

This spurred cheating allegations from fans who aimed direct messages into Matthew’s inbox. Setting the record straight this week, he took to Instagram to rant at fans.

Although Charley and Matthew had been married for five years and split in September, the couple didn’t make it public until November. Matthew was then seen kissing his new girlfriend in the street, which prompted cheating speculation.

Matthew said: “Just to set the record straight once and for all… and hopefully this will be the end of it, and the end of me getting horrible messages on socials and people saying nasty stuff to me on the street…”

“1. It was NOT my decision to end my marriage. 2. I met Heather (who I was pictured with in London) way after my marriage ended. Hope this clears stuff up for all the trolls out there.”

After the blunt message, the soap actor uploaded another slide to elaborate on his family situation. Here, he referenced his relationship with Charley now, and mentioned their three children; Buster, 13, Bowie, eight, and Ace, four.

He added: “Oh, and… 3. (and most importantly) Charley and I are still good friends. Our kids are our life and always will be.”
