Angelica King admitted she’d been driving Wendy Posner’s stolen car when her, Cathy and Heath Hope had an accident.

While both girls survived, Heath succumbed to fatal injuries and the authorities became involved to figure out what really happened to him.

The blame was initially thrown on to Cathy until Angelica’s crisis of conscience became too overwhelming for her to ignore.

In scenes due on ITV next week, Angelica finally receives clarity on her fate as she’s sentenced for her involvement in Heath’s demise.

However, her parents Nicola and Jimmy King (respectively portrayed by Nicola Wheeler and Nick Miles) are finding it hard to cope as her departure from the eponymous village for prison looms.

Coming up, Jimmy struggles to lift his spirits as he contemplates Angel’s near-certain departure.

Her parents hold back tears as Angel says an emotional goodbye to her family.

Later that morning, she’s touched when Heath’s father Bob (Tony Audenshaw) manages to offer her a word of consolation.

Angel, Nicola and Jimmy are devastated when the judge sentences the teen to eight months in a secure children’s home.

Nicola breaks down as she fails to imagine her daughter’s anguish, while Bob’s emotional as he reads Angel’s letter.

Later on that evening, Nicola tries to hold herself together when Angel calls in a state of distress.

Unable to help her daughter, Nicola breaks down as she struggles with her own helplessness.

An emotional Nicola later goes to the B&B and apologises to Bob.

There’s a moment of thawing as the pair support each other in their shared grief.

But how will Angelica handle her time in the secure children’s home?

In recent scenes of the Yorkshire-based program, Angelica King admitted to Belle Dingle that she was worried she’d spiral out of control because of her custodial sentence.

Belle (Eden Taylor-Draper) tried to help Angelica with her own experience in a secure children’s home, where she’d been sent for the death of frenemy Gemma Andrews.

However, when she came out of the establishment, Belle was diagnosed with schizophrenia as she’d been plagued by hallucinations, mostly of her late mother Lisa.

Could Angelica know a similar fate?

Emmerdale airs weeknights from 7.30pm on ITV.
