EMMERDALE fans have blasted bosses for ‘ruining another character’ after a violent attack – ranting ‘they don’t know what to do with her!’
Tuesday’s episode of the ITV soap saw Leyla Harding and Victoria Sugden clash in the village over Jacob Gallagher.
Previously, Victoria had taken the decision to end her relationship with Jacob after she feared he was missing out on his future because of her after he kept a six-week placement in Berlin from her.
Victoria wasn’t alone in that fear, as Jacob’s mum Leyla also feared his relationship with his older girlfriend would limit his life.
With their relationship well and truly in the gutter, Jacob was left absolutely heartbroken.
Meanwhile Moira encouraged Victoria to move on and find a new job as her passion to take her mind off Jacob, but he struggled to hide the pain of how badly the break-up was affecting him.
He admitted to Leyla that he can’t move on, and she tried to encourage him to return to his studies and focus on that.
But Jacob was clearly hoping for a reunion with Victoria on the sly.
Having enjoyed a lunch out with Wendy, Victoria ran into Leyla, and the pair come to blows over the failed romance.
Disgusted at the way Victoria had treated her son – despite her own concerns about the relationship – Leyla ripped into Victoria.
She said: “OK, play the fool if you like but just stay away from my son. You know you’re not good enough for him.”
“You’re insane,” Victoria replied as Leyla threatened: “You’ll see how insane I am if you don’t stop encouraging him to defer his studies.
“You didn’t have to, did you? You just dangled the possibility of you and him getting back together and that was enough to distract him.
“You are disgusting, you went after his dad and that didn’t work so you just moved on to him. I have been right about you from the start.”
Victoria was left furious by her words and slapped her across the face.
With PC Swirling on the street, he had no option to arrest Victoria for the assault on Leyla.
However, Emmerdale fans were not impressed by Leyla’s behaviour, with one writing: “Leyla agreed with Victoria dumping Jacob initially & why shouldn’t Vic & Jacob remain friends if they think they can make it work? Leyla did with David.
“Also she’s not gonna be looking so smug once Jacob finds out, she’s pushing her son away.”
Another added: “Leyla is a WITCH!! She has made things so much worse…. so silly.”
A third tweeted: “I used to like Leyla! I know she’s always had been a bit self centred but I just feel yet again Emmerdale are ruining another character!
