Emmerdale viewers saw the Dingles learn some worrying news on Monday, shortly after the fate of another character was confirmed.

Cain Dingle’s fate was revealed after concern from fans that he was going to be killed off. Jeff Hordley’s character was left fighting for his life last week after he was attacked by his nephew Aaron Dingle.

On Monday, Cain was still hospitalised but no longer on a ventilator following the incident. He was in and out of consciousness with his wife Moira Dingle by his bedside, before he finally came round.

The doctors confirmed he had bruising on his brain that may take some time to heal, but he was going to be okay. While he needed plenty of rest, there was unlikely any damage as a result of his injuries following the fight.

With that, Cain decided to go against medical advice and discharged himself from hospital, heading back to the village. But soon, there was some worrying news that sparked heartache for the family.

Cain’s sister Chas Dingle gathered her family, including Aaron and Cain, to the pub to share some upsetting news. Initially they had wondered why she was being so secretive recently, and none of them were listening to her.

Chas ended up calling them out, before dropping the news that she had been diagnosed with cancer. Her family were reeling, as she detailed she had breast cancer like her mother Faith Dingle did.

Faith passed away in 2022 after her cancer returned, and now Chas is concerned that her diagnosis could be genetic, meaning other family members may also be at risk. This was the reason she confided in her family about her health issues, telling them it was stage one breast cancer and that her prognosis was good as doctors had caught the disease early.
She told Cain and the others: “I’m not very well. I’ve got cancer. I’ve got cancer like mum. It’s breast cancer, they caught it early. It’s stage one so the prognosis is good.” Chas was keen for her family to let go of any feuds and drama to support her, with them agreeing – but can Cain forgive Aaron?
