Soap fans will recall that Charity Dingle has been struggling since she accidentally killed Chloe Harris’ father Damon, also known as villain Harry, over the Christmas period. In upcoming scenes, Charity is still struggling and Mackenzie Boyd is relieved when she finally agrees to get help.

However, after approaching Harry’s grave, Charity starts to feel defiant and as she trashes his grave, she begins to take her power back. Later, Charity returns home and thanks to a ‘cathartic day’, is finally able to sleep and put her torment behind her.

Yet her relief is soon short-lived as that night she is soon plagued by nightmares of Harry. Charity finds herself struggling as she is tormented by memories and triggered by loud noises. Things take an even more scary turn when a petrified Charity starts hallucinating Harry, which sends her into a spiral.

It’s not long until Liam Cavanagh begins to piece things together with Charity’s behaviour and senses something is seriously wrong. However, Charity feigns nonchalance when a concerned Mack arrives to see if she is okay. Yet, when alone again, Charity’s panicked paranoia gets worse and she reaches for something to protect herself.

Things then go from bad to worse when later in the evening Charity suffers from a night terror and ends up gravely injuring Mack in self-defence… will Mack survive and how will Charity cope with the fallout?

This isn’t the first time Charity has lashed out during her trauma as last month the character snapped and pinned Moira Dingle against a wall as she attempted to help her. After the incident, Moira wouldn’t leave Charity’s side as she sensed that she was in utter distress.

During one tense moment, Moira pleaded with Charity that she isn’t a killer as she didn’t do it in anger. When Charity asked what would Moira know, the character broke down, confessing she would indeed know as she did kill someone in anger.

Moira then explained how she had killed Emma Barton back in 2017, admitting the deadly act had tore her to pieces and partner Cain Dingle saved her. Moira explained to Charity that son, Adam Barton, took the blame for the murder as he was already a prime suspect and didn’t want Isaac to grow up without a mum. Trying to comfort Charity, Moira said she didn’t have to push Emma but Charity had to pull the gun trigger, killing Damon.
