ITV Emmerdale fans predict ‘downfall’ of fan favourite as Amy Wyatt ‘can’t keep a secret’

Matty enlisted the help of inmate Les in a desperate attempt to be kept away from transphobic Robbo behind bars. But with Amy now in the know, viewers believe Les is in danger.

Could Amy Wyatt betray Matty Barton by exposing Les’ attack in Emmerdale?

The fan favourite portrayed by Ash Palmisciano feels powerless as his life was torn apart when Samson Dingle (Sam Hall) accused him of stabbing him during an altercation at The Hide, which was actually provoked by his equally disruptive pal, Josh Cope (Osian Morgan).

Matty was taken to prison, a particularly dangerous environment for the proud trans man, while his wife Amy Wyatt (Natalie Ann Jamieson) and mother Moira (Natalie J Robb) are trying to get through to Samson, pleading for him to tell the truth.

Meanwhile, behind bars, Matty asked Les to beat him black and blue as transphobic Robbo launched an intimidation campaign against him as he grew increasingly desperate to get out of prison to avoid danger.

Matty told his wife Amy (Natalie Ann Jamieson) had been a set up all along during this Thursday’s (July 11) trip to the eponymous village, making her promise to keep the truth a secret. But ITV viewers at home swarmed over to X, otherwise known as Twitter, convinced she wouldn’t remain tight-lipped for long and it could mean trouble for Les.

“Amy, I won’t say anything Yeah right, gob on legs”, one wrote on the social media platform. Another added: “Oh well, that’s Les snookered then. Big Gob Amy.” One concerned TV fan jumped in: “I don’t like Matty’s chances of Amy keeping her mouth shut about him having Les beat him up”, just as a livid soap watcher commented: “Amy can’t keep her big trap shut.”

Another viewer pleaded: “Don’t tell Amy anything, Matty! She can’t keep a secret – she’ll probably tell the prison guard on the way out ‘Well I feel a whole lot better now, GUESS WHAT? It wasn’t my fault Matty was beaten up after all – it was Les who did it! I know – such a laugh hahaha.'”

This Thursday, Matty’s mother Moira took things to another level as she held Samson captive in her home with brother Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb) and intimidated him into doing the right thing. Actor Sam Hall shot to fame at the age of five, when he debuted in the Yorkshire-based drama as Sam Dingle’s son. While he quickly became a fan favourite throughout the years, the lad’s baby storyline with Amelia Spencer proved to viewers he also had a mean streak and they were not happy.

Earlier this year, the 20-year-old was tipped to be on his way out of the Yorkshire Dales, fans of the long-running drama grew increasingly concerned as rumours claimed his exit might be permanent. However his exit will play out, Sam Hall has already assured fans that they wouldn’t be seeing the last of his ITV alter-ego as he told the Loose Women panel he was “hoping” to get more Emmerdale scenes.
