Emmerdale fans have been left devastated for Belle Dingle after a new Tom King twist.
Belle is set to marry Tom later this week and ahead of their big day, they were finalising a few little details about their wedding. As they headed to the shop, Dr Liam Cavanagh stopped them and referred to them as Mr and Mrs King.
Whilst Tom loved the idea, Belle didn’t seem too impressed and instead wanted to keep her surname as Dingle. It was then Tom made a comment about Belle’s choice, leaving Liam and the viewers at home feeling awkward.

Taking to Twitter, one fan wrote: “It’s always what Tom wants #Emmerdale,” whilst a second added: “Controlling vibes from Tom.” A third shared: “Belle, keep your name. Don’t be bullied about changing it. Tom does his best to irritate #Emmerdale.”
Eden Taylor-Draper, who plays Belle, previously confessed her character is “turning a blind eye” to Tom’s true behaviour.
“We have witnessed his controlling behaviour but I think Belle herself is just turning a blind eye to all that at the moment under the assumption he’s just doing it all out of love. All the Dingles seem to like Tom. But of course they haven’t seen that other side of Tom when he tries to control things. The audience saw it when we did the 12 Angry Dingles. So to the Dingles he is a great guy,” she said.
Discussing the scenes that aired this evening, Eden admitted Belle is just “desperate” to keep her own name.
She explained: “I think she’s so passionate to keep her name as she is Dingle and proud to be so. The Dingle name means a lot to her. And I think especially with her mum not being there. I think that absence and their name is such a symbol for Belle. Tom doesn’t have his parents any more and he wants to continue the King family line. So I think it is a combination of that. He is not really pressuring her but he explains the reasons why he wants to continue the King name. He said she had just assumed she could stay a Dingle.”
