Emmerdale is set for more heartbreak next week when the beloved Dingle family receive more shock news

Emmerdale was full of more heartbreak on Thursday night as the beloved Dingle family received more shocking news.

Soap fans will recall that Chas Dingle was recently diagnosed with triple-negative breast cancer with the ITV soap working with Breast Cancer Now for the emotional storyline. Chas’ diagnosis comes after her mother, Faith Dingle, tragically died in 2022 following her breast cancer battle.

On Thursday’s episode, Chas revealed to her family that the cause of her cancer is the faulty BRCA2 gene. The bombshell left Chas’ brothers Cain and Caleb, as well as son Aaron, stunned as they learnt there’s a high likelihood they could have it and that it could have been passed onto their children.

Wanting to protect her family, Chas pushed her family members to make an appointment to be tested but the trio were left evasive and uneasy. However, after Chas pointed out that they could save the lives of the people they care about the most, as well as themselves, they appeared to have a slight change of heart.

Soap watchers are now fearing a heartbreaking twist as they think either Cain, Caleb or Aaron could also have the faulty BRCA2 gene. Taking to Twitter, now X, one person said: “So who has the faulty gene Aaron, Cain or Caleb ? It’s bound to be at least one of them. #emmerdale” to which a different account wrote: “Probably Caleb!”

Elsewhere, another wrote: “The cancer gene Chas has could happen to the rest of the dingles they will have to be tested. #Emmerdale” while a different account predicted Caleb’s son Nicky could have the faulty BRCA2 gene in a heartbreaking twist, adding: “What’s the betting Nicky’s got the gene? #Emmerdale.”

It comes after producer, Kate Brooks, explained Chas’ current storyline: “When this story was first pitched, we were acutely aware how important it was to explore this.

“With Chas’ family history of breast cancer and Chas being such a strong character, and in many ways the bedrock of the Dingles, we wanted to show the impact on not just her, but her immediate family. With Lucy Pargeter’s innate ability to showcase Chas’s vulnerabilities beneath her hardened exterior, we knew she was absolutely the right character to play this with.”

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX, with an hour-long episode on Thursdays.
