ITV Emmerdale ‘missing’ character mystery explained after fans question disappearance
Emmerdale fans were left questioning the whereabouts of one character in Tuesday night's episode, but his disappearance was actually explained earlier this summer
Emmerdale buffs are all in a tizz as Arthur Thomas seems to have done a vanishing act from the soap.
The young lad, portrayed by Alfie Clarke, hasn’t graced the screens of the ITV soap since last month. With Emmerdale churning out high-stakes drama involving Laurel Thomas, Arthur’s absence is sticking out like a sore thumb.
Laurel, Arthur’s mum, had viewers panicking when she suffered an unexpected heart attack at the church after a fiery row with her hubby Jai Sharma. Come Tuesday’s episode (July 9), Laurel was back from hospital, welcomed by Jai, Gabby, and Dotty but eagle-eyed fans were quick to clock that Arthur wasn’t part of the welcome wagon.
Social media, once known as Twitter, has been abuzz with fans scratching their heads over Arthur’s whereabouts. One fan piped up: “They haven’t mentioned Arthur whatsoever, has Gabby or Laurel not told him.”
Another chimed in with: “Where’s Arthur these days haven’t seen him for ages,” reports the Express. And yet another added their two cents: “Haven’t seen Arthur for a while.”
However, those with a keen eye will recall that Arthur’s trip was actually given a nod during Emmerdale’s hour-long special on Thursday, June 27, when it was dropped into conversation that he’d jetted off Down Under. This little nugget came just before the drama unfolded with his mum, Laurel.
It was during a chat between Laurel and her stepdaughter Gabby that Arthur’s jaunt to the land of Oz was slipped in, as they nattered about the trials and tribulations of life at Home Farm with baby Evan’s health scare.
Laurel dropped a bombshell by suggesting Gabby should move back in with her little one. She said: “Arthur’s in Australia and there’s more than enough room in the inn. Gabby, you and Thomas are family you’re always welcome. And, to be honest, I could do with another woman in the house.”
But this left some fans scratching their heads. A baffled viewer hit up Twitter saying: “Erm, when did Arthur go to Australia?” Another chimed in with: “Arthur’s in Australia? ! I’ve clearly missed something there.”
Off-screen, Arthur’s portrayer Alfie is 16 and was probably busy nailing his GCSEs this summer. He even shared snaps on Instagram showing he was living it up at his school prom in June.
