ITV Emmerdale returns ‘sealed’: From character on the run to village icon as fans spot clues

Emmerdale viewers are hoping there could be a series of returns coming up on the hit ITV soap.

Only recently, the hit ITV soap has been mentioning several past characters and fans are hoping this could be a clue, hinting at their comeback. In recent scenes, Charity Dingle tore a strip into Aaron Dingle for working with her partner Mackenzie Boyd in dodgy deals, pointing out he was in a vulnerable state after his ex Chloe Harris took their son Reuben. Trying to get Aaron to see sense, Charity mentioned his ex Robert Sugden.

Charity said: “Do you remember when you were raising Seb with Robert? You were a dad to that little kid, weren’t you? And I remember how crushed you were when Rebecca stopped access.”

Soap watchers were left delighted over the mention, hoping that it could be a hint Robert is set to return. Viewers will recall that Robert left the show back in 2019 after being sent to prison over the death of Lee Posner. Robert accidentally caused Lee’s death after he attacked him, following Lee horrifically raping his sister Victoria Sugden. Robert faced up to his crime and cut all ties with the village and his loved ones as he was sentenced.

But viewers have long hoped he may return, especially after hints that Robert may not have caused his death. Lee obtained injuries to his head when he was punched, but it emerged Lee had also been hit by his brother Luke and that might have led to his death. And with Robert mentioned recently, fans are hoping he could be returning with Aaron actor Danny Miller confessing he too wants Ryan Hawley back on the show as Robert.

Elsewhere, Emmerdale revisited a past storyline earlier this month as Moira Dingle dropped a murder bombshell. Only recently, Charity has been struggling since she accidentally killed Chloe Harris’ father Damon, also known as villain Harry. In a recent episode, Charity snapped and pinned Moira against a wall as she attempted to help her.

Moira wouldn’t leave Charity’s side as she sensed that she was in utter distress following the traumatic incident. During one tense moment, Moira pleaded with Charity that she was not a killer as she didn’t do it in anger. When Charity asked what would Moira know, the character broke down, confessing she would indeed know as she did kill someone in anger.

Moira then explained how she had killed Emma Barton back in 2017, admitting the deadly act had tore her to pieces and partner Cain Dingle saved her. Moira explained to Charity that her son Adam Barton took the blame for the murder as he was already a prime suspect and didn’t want Isaac to grow up without a mum. Moira admitted she confessed to the police, telling them everything, but they wouldn’t believe her as they accused her of protecting Adam.

Talking about the murder, Moira admitted she just “snapped”, especially when Emma accused her of basically killing her own daughter, Holly Barton, who tragically died from a drug overdose back in 2016. Moira recalled that Emma smiled when she was falling, as she knew the act of killing her would torment her for life. Trying to comfort Charity, Moira said she didn’t have to push Emma but Charity had to pull the gun trigger, killing Damon.

As well as Adam being mentioned in a recent episode, he was also referenced back in October as Aaron made a return, where it was revealed that Adam had contacted Cain as he was worried about Aaron. With Adam being mentioned and Moira admitting he’s innocent, could the character return in upcoming scenes?
