Emmerdale fans were left cringing on Monday night over one character’s betrayal.
During the latest episode, Ella Forster arranged a few drinks for the women of the village at The Woolpack to cheer up Manpreet Sharma. Soap fans will recall that Manpreet has had a stressful few weeks after receiving a complaint from Ruby Fox-Miligan at the surgery to awkwardly rejecting partner Charles Anderson’s proposal.
On Monday night, the ladies got ready for their drinks where they were joined by Charles’ mother, Claudette Anderson, leaving Manpreet not best pleased to have her mother-in-law in attendance. However, after an awkward start, Claudette soon got involved and even agreed to an alcoholic drink.
It wasn’t long until the group were tipsy as Ella soon spotted Manpreet flirting with Billy Fletcher at the bar, where she pulled her outside for a chat. Ella grilled Manpreet about Billy to which the doctor admitted it was just a crush and Ella swore that she would keep it a secret, warning that Manpreet doesn’t take the crush any further.

However, later on, a drunk Manpreet bumped into Billy where she started flirting with him before throwing herself at him and trying to give him a kiss. Billy, who is married to Dawn Fletcher, was left furious as he rejected Manpreet, saying: “What are you doing? Just because you and Charles aren’t getting on, doesn’t mean you can do this, now get a grip of yourself!” However, Manpreet and Billy weren’t aware that Claudette was standing in the doorway and witnessed it all.
Taking to Twitter, now X, viewers were quick to share their thoughts as they questioned why Ella, who fans have been suspicious of as she’s clearly hiding something, was grilling Manpreet.
One person said: “Telling Ella s**t like that that’s you screwed!”, a different account put: “Ella knows about manpreets crush on Billy. #Emmerdale…”, another wrote: “Ella calling manpreet outside #emmerdale” while a different account added: “What’s she up to??”
Later this week, Ella assures Manpreet that Charles doesn’t need to find out but insists that Billy needs an explanation for the shock kiss. It’s not long until Manpreet apologises to Billy but Charles has overheard everything, leaving the village vicar furious as he storms out. Is their relationship over or can it be fixed?
