Ella’s secret ‘exposed’

Emmerdale welcomed newcomer Ella Forster, who is played by actress Paula Lane, earlier this year. The new character made a dramatic debut in the village as she poured a drink over her boss Jules, quitting her job on the spot while standing up for Mandy Dingle at a vets social. However, Ella has soon left viewers suspicious as it’s clear she’s hiding something with her behaviour raising eyebrows at times.

After quitting her job, Ella soon landed a new role at the doctor’s surgery as a receptionist and it wasn’t long until she struck up a romance with doctor Liam Cavanagh. However, after one of their earlier dates, Ella jumped away from Liam after kissing him and quickly made her excuses as she rushed off. Meanwhile, Ella showed suspicious behaviour when Liam found himself in a love triangle between Ella and Chas Dingle.

With Ella appearing to be hiding something big, her secret appears to be finally revealed next week. In upcoming spoilers, Ella panics when Liam suggests staying at her place but she manages to deflect his offer. Later, on the outskirts of the village, viewers see Ella bed down in her car as it’s clear she has no permanent place to stay and has been lying to those around her.

The next morning, Ella is found sleeping in her car by Manpreet Sharma during her morning run. Ella is left mortified as she begs Manpreet not to tell Liam. However, in true soap style, Manpreet soon clumsily admits to Liam that she found Ella sleeping in her car, leaving the latter utterly furious.

After some discussion, Liam suggests that Ella temporarily moves into the spare room at his house and a delighted Ella agrees. Later, Mandy helps Ella move things into Liam’s house, where she enquires about Ella’s family. Things take a dramatic turn when Ella spots an old photograph in Mandy’s hands to which she snaps and Mandy is left confused over the confrontation.

Later in the week, Ella and Liam navigate their relationship as they live together. However, Liam is soon left puzzled when Ella refuses to let a photographer take her picture and dashes off. Out in the beer garden, Mandy advises Liam to make sure Ella has no skeletons in the closet before things get serious between them. Taking Mandy’s advice, Liam asks some intrusive questions to Ella, which leaves the latter rattled as she darts out of the house. Later, viewers see Ella visit a care home… what is she hiding and who is at the care home?

Emmerdale is set for harrowing scenes next week when Belle Dingle lashes out at Tom King amid the couple’s devastating abuse storyline. The ITV soap is tackling a coercive control storyline with the characters, and fans have seen Tom isolating and manipulating his partner Belle. With his vile behaviour worsening recently and him having her under surveillance, the latest episodes took an even more heartbreaking turn as Tom turned violent.

In upcoming scenes, Belle forces Tom to get help over his behaviour as she vows to leave him with the village vet promising to change his ways. However, it’s all part of Tom’s vile plan as later in the week he tells a sick lie to maintain his control over Belle.

During a doctor’s appointment with Liam Cavanagh, Tom manipulatively throws Belle under the bus when he instead claims Belle is the one with the problems. Spinning a sick lie, Tom implies that Belle has got behaviour issues, anger and is exerting coercive control over him. Meanwhile in the village, Mandy and Lydia Dingle are worried about Belle as she has not been herself and has not been replying to their calls or texts.

Later, during dinner, Tom puts on a show in front of the Dingles while Belle, who is unaware Tom is lying to her, is delighted to hear that her husband’s appointment with Liam went well. It’s not long until it’s the anniversary of Lisa Dingle’s death and Tom controls the day by engineering it that Belle waits in for a parcel for him, rather than join Lydia and Sam in a memory picnic for Lisa.

Meanwhile, over at work, Vanessa Woodfield and Rhona Goskirk prepare for Tom’s performance review but Tom is angered when he realises he’s about to receive some criticism as it’s clear that he doesn’t handle the review well. After Tom learns Belle didn’t wait in for his parcel, his fury boils over as he blames Belle for ruining the day and makes some harsh comments about her mother.

This makes Belle see red as she finally snaps after months of Tom’s vile behaviour as she pushes him over in the village as some of the residents watch on in disbelief. Has Belle’s public reaction helped sell Tom’s narrative that Belle is the one with the problems and will she finally leave Tom once and for all?
