It comes as Liam’s emotional Emmerdale exit aired over the summer, where his character Dan was sentenced to eight years in prison after a punch turned deadly. Last year, Dan punched his daughter Amelia’s online stalker, Lloyd, which resulted in the latter being left in a coma in a hospital with a serious head injury.

Dan later pleaded guilty to the charges against him without realising Lloyd had been pronounced dead in hospital. Later, Dan arrived in court where he faced a serious prison sentence for manslaughter and in a huge twist he was delivered an eight-year sentence of imprisonment. The episode ended with Dan being led to his prison cell.

Soap watchers were left sad to see Dan actor Liam leave the hit ITV soap after 12 years with the star saying: “Thank you @itv @itvxofficial @emmerdale for 12 years of incredible memories… I’ll miss you all, but for now at least it’s time for new adventures…

“@daisycampbellofficial @kelli.hollis @alicyaeyo @lukeroskell @bhaskerpatel @fionawade1 @rebeccasarker @laura_norts @natalieannjamieson @j_downham Et Al… love you all! But I need this break, I need to face the fear! Who knows what the future holds!!!!” with a series of heart emojis.

Meanwhile, Charlie bowed out of EastEnders back in 2022 as her character Janine was arrested by the police for perverting the course of justice after framing Linda Carter for a car accident. During the explosive festive episodes, Mick Carter appeared to be “killed off” as he bowed out of the soap after nine years.

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX, with an hour-long episode on Thursdays.
