ITV Emmerdale star ‘upset’ by shock exit from soap as history repeats itself in sad storyline

Emmerdale star Sally Dexter - who played Faith Dingle - has opened up about her sad exit from the ITV soap, as Chas experiences her own cancer diagnosis

An Emmerdale star has opened up about their shock exit from the ITV soap.

Faith Dingle’s sad death in the Dales back in October caused devastation for the family, after she passed away in heartbreaking scenes with her family including Chas and Cain Dingle by her side. The storyline is being revisited at the moment after Chas Dingle was diagnosed with breast cancer, and she now knows that her son Aaron Dingle has inherited the faulty BRCA2 gene.

Sally Dexter departed the role a number of months ago and has now reflected on her time on the soap, admitting her exit from the show was “upsetting” and she admitted she was completely moved by the whole exit storyline.

“I was upset by it. So I guess I didn’t think about anyone else. No, no, I did. I did. But I knew it would mean something which is I think part of the reason it was worth doing,” she explained to Express.

“That’s the part of the soap world – my knowledge is of Emmerdale and I know the others are very similar – they really care about their audience. They really care about the sorts of things they’re putting across to them and there was a lot of thought gone into this a lot of research and it was very, very heartfelt. So I’m glad that it moved people in the same way that it moved all of us.”

Sally is grateful people still talk about the storyline, over a year after her departure.

“When people came up, come up and say about it, I think ‘I’ve been dead for over a year – how, can you remember?'” he said, “Because it’s such it’s such a quick turnover of story in all of the soaps, and my hat is taken off to everybody who works in them. I mean, it’s extraordinary. It was a pleasure and a privilege to be part of that story. I was very glad to be to be part of it. It was it was very special.”

Meanwhile, Chas star Lucy Pargeter insists she has no plans to ever leave the soap.

“I don’t think I will ever make the decision to leave myself – they’ll have to write me out, but even they they’d have to drag me out kicking and screaming! I’ve got a job that I love and I’ll stay as long as they’ll have me,” she said.
