Tom King actor James Chase has warned that his character has a terrifying motive on Emmerdale, after things turned violent tonight when he attacked his wife Belle Dingle
Tom King has a terrifying motive on Emmerdale that will be exposed soon, actor James Chase has warned.
James – who plays evil Tom – has revealed that things will get worse between Tom and Belle Dingle (played by Eden Taylor-Draper). In a harrowing turn of events last night, he burned Belle’s hand under the hot water tap when he found out she was lying.
Speaking about Tom’s motive behind his behaviour, James explained: “As he said in a previous episode he is obsessed with her. There are other things going on too, but I don’t want to reveal too much just yet.
“No one has any idea. Tom is a master of performance, able to hide his true feelings and convey something very different to get people on his side. Also, Rhona and Marlon’s rising tension only helps to disguise Tom and Belles true situation.”

Belle star Eden Taylor-Draper hopes the storyline can encourage others to get help if they’re going through similar things.
Speaking about the reaction to the show, she said: “People have reached out which I think is a great sign that everything is resonating in some way. So many people go through this and I’m really grateful that I’ve been able to play out Belle’s story. We’ve worked with charities and people that have gone through this and it’s important that what we’re portraying is real.”
Things worsened last night when Tom realised that Belle had been taking her contraception behind his back.
“So from the minute they got married, Tom was very quick to bring up having a baby. Belle quite clearly said, let’s slow down. I think Tom put the pressure on by saying, well, I don’t have a family, you are my family and I want a family. This is my dream. Belle, after quite a few episodes of him pushing for it, says, okay, yeah, we can have a baby,” Eden explains.
“And straight after that it’s like, what am I doing? I don’t want to have a baby right now. I don’t think Belle quite realises herself that she knows she doesn’t want to have a baby with him. I think she just thinks I’m too young and I’ve got too much going on. She goes to see Manpreet to organise collecting her pill so Tom doesn’t find out, which is huge for her. I think that’s the first time she’s done something that she thinks if he finds out, this would be terrible.”
