Another exit looms in Emmerdale as Ethan Anderson refuses to face the music for leaving Nicky Miligan to die in a car crash.

The solicitor portrayed by Emile John was recently released from police custody after a gruelling questioning over the accident that saw him frame an unconscious Nicky (played by Lewis Cope) for drink driving.

ITV viewers were appalled when Ethan, who had remained on the straight and narrow so far, dragged his pal to the drivers side before fleeing the scene, leaving Nicky for dead in recent scenes of the Yorkshire-based program. But after his arrest and subsequent release from custody, Ethan decided to leave the village altogether on Wednesday (May 15, 2024).

Ethan has decided to do a runner and told his grandmother Claudette about his plans

Ethan broke the news to his grandmother Claudette Anderson (Flo Wilson) who came to join him in the barn he was hiding out in, while his father Charles (Kevin Mathurin) desperately looked for him in the Dales, terrified he’d done a runner.

Unfortunately for Ethan, Claudette was determined to keep him around in Emmerdale, but he dismissed her pleas. Meanwhile, viewers shared their thoughts about Ethan’s potential exit on X, otherwise known as Twitter, and most of them were unforgiving with the hunk.

“Ethan will not be missed to be honest”, one of them wrote, while another agreed: “Ethan is so selfish, more bothered about what’s happening with him and his job than he is about Nicky who is in a coma ! Says a lot.”

A third chimed in: “Ethan is such a wimp. Why doesn’t Mr Moral High Ground take responsibility for once?!” Another jumped in: “Ethan’s lost the plot because of all the people he could get in touch with he chose Claudette who is more likely to serve him a lecture & not comfort.” But in the midst of the criticism, one TV watcher was disappointed as they wrote: “I don’t want Ethan to leave! He’s good!”

Meanwhile, one soap regular predicted a betrayal was in the works: Claudette is the most God fearing woman, in all the land there’s no way she’ll let Ethan get away Scot-free.” Wednesday’s instalment ended with Ethan furiously confronting his father Charles after realising the vicar had turned him into the authorities. However, his exit may have to wait.

Some soap fans have grown increasingly concerned for Ethan’s well-being in the village as a comatose Nicky remains in hospital while his parents, Ruby and Caleb, are seething. On Tuesday, multiple viewers predicted Ethan could be killed off by Caleb and his wife Ruby, just as another TV watcher was convinced Emmerdale tough man Cain Dingle could also get involved – a mystery they will have to solve themselves next week as spoilers have confirmed a deadly twist for Ethan.
