ITV Emmerdale Tom King’s death ‘sealed’ after ‘telling’ clue as fans left sickened over scenes

Emmerdale fans are convinced Tom King could be killed off after several ‘telling’ clues on Thursday’s episode.

The ITV soap is tackling a coercive control storyline with Tom and Belle Dingle, and fans have recently seen Tom isolating and manipulating his partner Belle. With his vile behaviour worsening recently and him having her under surveillance, recent episodes took an even more heartbreaking turn as Tom turned violent.

Only recently, Belle made a difficult decision after discovering she was pregnant. The character secretly terminated her pregnancy last week, deciding she could not go ahead with the pregnancy after Tom had put pressure on her to start a family. During Monday’s episode, Belle confessed to her mental health care coordinator, Rachel, that she told Tom she had a miscarriage instead of an abortion. During their appointment, Belle feared that Rachel was starting to realise the extent of Tom’s controlling behaviour, especially when she pointed out a dog camera for Piper, which Tom has been secretly using to record Belle at home.

Belle started to panic as she was desperate for Rachel to leave but as the latter continued to encourage her and handed over helplines to domestic abuse charities, the reality of Tom’s abuse hit home. Sensing Belle was scared, Rachel encouraged her to take a break from Tom. After the appointment, Belle quickly made arrangements to see Debbie Dingle in Scotland as she appeared to leave the village in a taxi.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the village, Tom was up at the farm doing some work, where Noah Dingle accidentally let slip that Belle was in town for an appointment instead of walking Piper, leaving the sinister vet fuming over his wife’s lies. After researching Belle’s location, Tom realised Belle had taken a trip to the abortion clinic and he was unable to contain his rage.

Tom started trashing the barn in anger before swinging an iron bar in the air for another blow which he accidentally hit against the barn’s rotary isolator behind him, Tom was electrocuted and hurled violently against a beam. It appeared that Tom was dead before a mystery person was seen trying to revive him.

Elsewhere, while it looked as though Belle had fled the village, she decided to head home to pick up Piper so they could go to Scotland together. In true soap style, Rhona Goskirk then appeared at the house, revealing Tom had been electrocuted and they had to head to hospital. At the hospital, it was revealed that Tom had died but Paddy Kirk, who was nearby, was able to resuscitate him just in time. While in the hospital room, Tom woke up, claiming he couldn’t remember what had happened, but he chillingly said to Belle: “I’m never leaving you!”

On Thursday night, Belle attempted to flee to Scotland again but was interrupted by a knock on the door, where Jimmy King was waiting with Tom in a wheelchair, who had discharged himself early. Jimmy said to Belle over Tom’s early return: “I hope you’re ready for what comes next…” to which Tom replied: “I guess now we’ll find out what in sickness and in health really means…”

Belle attempted to hide her suitcases but Tom spotted them before he started manipulating Belle in hard-hitting scenes. The duo were then interrupted by the arrival of Charity Dingle, where Tom told her about the miscarriage, and Charity opened up about her ectopic pregnancy heartbreak in 2022, sharing empathy with Belle.

It was too much for Belle as she got upset to which Charity went to leave before accidentally revealing that Belle was planning to see Debbie in Scotland, leaving Tom furious. After repeatedly manipulating Belle, the character broke down in heartbreaking scenes as she admitted to getting an abortion and planning to stay in Scotland. In a temper, Tom stormed out the house as Belle broke down sobbing.

As he waited outside, Kerry Wyatt passed Tom as she commented: “Anyway, I’m just glad that you’re alright. Last thing anyone around here needs is another funeral.” Tom then looked inside his home and upon seeing Belle sobbing, he let out a sinister smirk. Later, Tom returned home where Belle broke down in tears, asking if they could get past this and apologised, saying she would never hurt him again. Tom then smirked again over his wife’s distress.

Taking to Twitter, now X, viewers were sickened over the scenes but some fans predicted whether Tom could be killed off due to Jimmy and Kerry’s comments in the episode. One person said: “One of them dying then? Always final last words in soapland #Emmerdale”, a different account put: “It’s bound to end up with him being killed #Emmerdale” while another added: “Is Tom gonna get killed #Emmerdale?”

Elsewhere, another wrote: “Please let this Tom and Belle storyline be over. It’s unbearable to watch #Emmerdale”, a different account put: “He makes me sick. #Emmerdale” while another wrote: “He is sick #Emmerdale.”

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX, with an hour-long episode on Thursdays.
