Lisa Dingle made a ‘return’ to Emmerdale tonight as her daughter Belle tied the knot.

Belle and Tom are set to tie the knot tonight but Belle has been struggling with the fact her parents won’t be there for her big day. Noticeably absent, Lisa Dingle won’t be at Belle’s wedding after the character passed away back in May 2019.

She has been keen to somehow involve the memory of her mother in her big day, and tonight, viewers saw Belle read a letter from her mum, which she had written for her big day, but it has Belle feeling emotional.

Speaking about the scenes, she said: “I don’t want to say what the letter says but Belle is given it just as she is going into the church. Zak has given Sam a letter to give Belle. Her mum Lisa wrote it before she passed away to open on the day she got married. When Belle gets the letter she gets upset as it is too emotional and she thinks, ‘I can’t read this now, it’s too much.'”

Speaking about her decision to leave Emmerdale, Jane told The Mirror at the time: “It is completely life-changing. But I decided I wanted to do different things. My mum died a couple of years ago, so it does make you think a lot about the big things in life. As you get older life feels shorter – although of course I’m going to live to 150.

“It is long, long days and then you don’t have time in the evenings because you have lines to learn for the next day.” After leaving Emmerdale, Jane revealed that she had taken up a course in reflexology and also started an art history degree and wrote a book.
