ITV Emmerdale’s Samson Dingle makes heartbreaking decision ahead of exit

Emmerdale's Samson Dingle has been preparing to flee the village after he lied to the police about Matty Barton attacking him - but he finally comes clean

In the upcoming episodes of Emmerdale, Samson Dingle, portrayed by Sam Hall, is set to clear Matty Barton’s name after weeks of deception.

Fans of the ITV soap will be aware that Matty (Ash Palmisciano) is currently behind bars due to false allegations made by Samson regarding a recent incident at The Hide. Samson was unintentionally injured during an attempted robbery at the bar and restaurant last month.

His friend Josh Cope (Osian Morgan) persuaded him to falsely accuse Matty of stabbing him intentionally, causing a rift among the Dingles. However, in next week’s episodes, under pressure from his step-mum Lydia Dingle (Karen Blick), Samson decides to speak to the police.

This week’s episodes reveal Lydia suspecting that Samson is not telling the truth about the events on the day he was stabbed at The Hide. After seeing Josh pressuring Samson to continue lying to the police, Lydia suspects that Samson is hiding something, reports the Express.

In the following scenes next week, Samson receives mixed advice from two of his closest family members as he plans to leave the village to travel with Josh.

Sam Dingle (James Hooton) advises his son Samson to flee, fearing that he’ll face serious consequences if his lies are uncovered. However, Lydia is appalled by this extreme suggestion and encourages Samson to come clean to the police.

Samson decides to heed Lydia’s advice and visits the police station to reveal the true circumstances surrounding his stabbing. He finally confesses that it was an accident and Matty wasn’t at fault.

Sam is livid with Lydia for meddling, while other Dingle family members also berate Lydia for her desire to involve the police.

Samson’s lies have created a divide between Sam and his uncle Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley), who is also Matty’s stepfather. While Moira (Natalie J.Robb) and Cain have sided with Matty, Sam and his wife Lydia initially backed Samson, believing his account of events.

Moira and Cain are relieved that Matty’s innocence has finally been established. Moira is optimistic that Matty will soon be released from prison.

Cain’s allegiance to Matty infuriates Sam, leading to Sam knocking Cain to the ground during a heated confrontation at The Woolpack, but his half-brother refuses to back down.

Cain even makes a stern visit to the Dingle house to ensure that Samson doesn’t plan to run away.

Sam fumes over Cain’s interference, while Samson frets about what could happen to him if he’s left alone with a revengeful Cain.

As Matty won’t be immediately released, he realises that he must somehow endure in jail for a bit longer as he is harassed by transphobic inmates and fears for his safety.

Emmerdale airs weekdays at 7:30pm on ITV and ITVX.
