ITV soap beauties reunite for new show as star brands it ‘budget Sex and the City’
Several soap star beauties from Coronation Street, Emmerdale and Hollyoaks are uniting for ITV reality show, Drama Queens, which will document their lives away from the screen
Several beauties from the world of soap are to unite for a brand new celebrity reality show – ITV’s Drama Queens.
The broadcaster has revealed actresses from Coronation Street, Emmerdale and Hollyoaks will join forces to offer an “authentic and aspirational glimpse” into their lives away from the screen. Described as a Sex and the City style offering in Manchester and the North West, Drama Queens will follow the girls as they juggle late-night finishes, photo-shoots, and last-minute line learning, with their family lives.With behind-the-scenes access to each famous face’s family moments, house moves, award ceremonies and more, viewers can look forward to witnessing aspects of the cast members’ interconnected lives and seeing how relationships grow on the programme.ITV has revealed the show – scheduled for Spring – will star Corrie’s Ellie Leach (who played Faye Windass), Brooke Vincent (Sophie Webster) and Lucy Fallon (Bethany Platt), Emmerdale’s Amy Walsh (Tracy Metcalfe), Laura Norton (Kerry Wyatt)and Roxy Shahidi (Leyla Harding), and Hollyoaks’ Jorgie Porter (Theresa McQueen) and Jamelia (Sharon Bailey).
Off the back of her Strictly Come Dancing success, Ellie revealed declared she can’t wait for people to see her as herself, rather than the character she’s so popular for.
Her cousin Brooke shared in the enthusiasm, sharing particular excitement at people seeing her family life and recognising her work and home life balance.
Fellow Corrie star Lucy said her stint on the soap has been “incredible”, but added: “I’m now excited for viewers to see a real ‘behind the scenes’ of my chaotic life as an actress and a first-time mum!”
Excited by the prospect, Amy said: “I made my first appearance on Emmerdale in 2014! For 10 years viewers have only really known me as Tracy and she has been through a lot. Now it’s time to show people who I am in other areas of my life and how chaotic that can be at times.”
Laura explained: “I am really excited to be involved in the show, and I love the premise. Getting a glimpse into our real lives with the struggles and celebrations of motherhood. To show the importance of the friendships of my soap family, and how we support each other through the juggle of our lives on Emmerdale with the challenges of everyday life.”
Co-star Roxy commented: “I’m thrilled to be part of the Drama Queens cast. Who wouldn’t want to make a show with their besties… It’s a brave and original concept. I think it might feel like Sex in The City but with less budget and more rain.”
Jamelia cheekily declared that “chaos is inevitable” and vowed that viewers will see a completely different side to her. Meanwhile, Hollyoaks babe Jorgie Porter said she can’t wait for viewers to know the real her.
