ITV’s Emmerdale has been slammed for ‘ruining’ two legacy characters with a shock death storyline.
The soap got off to a traumatic start this year with the death of teenager Heath Hope.
Heath died in a car crash after he joined twin sister Cathy and pal Angelica King in stealing Wendy Posner’s car to go to a house party in a neighbouring village.
Following his death, Cathy was blamed as she was the one who had drove the car out of the village, but she insisted it wasn’t her, it was Angelica.
In recent episodes, Angelica finally admitted it had been her driving, but some Emmerdale fans are not impressed that bosses have ‘ruined’ the two legacy characters.
Taking to a fan forum, one wrote: “The producers would not want to ruin legacy characters by Angelica and Cathy getting the blame for killing Heath as how will there be able to live with themselves and then being reminded every year on the anniversary.”
But another argued: “Come off it! Plenty of legacy characters have done worse and got off scot free.
“How many legacy characters are wandering around the village when they should be jailed?
“I personally think the actress playing Angelica is quite poor and not transitioning the character as well as the likes of April and Arthur for example.”
They continued: “I suspect that she’ll be sent down for this and come back in a few years as an absolute hell-raiser with a new head, causing no end of problems for Jimmy and Nicola.”
A third commented: “I’m just not happy with the direction this storyline is going. They have already had Cathy say something like ” and now Heath is dead because of . . . her!!” .
“No Cathy, he is dead mostly because of you. You came up with the plan, you talked the others in to it and if you then let Angelica, who didn’t even claim to know how to drive, to take over the driving then its largely your fault he is dead!!
“Cathy had better take her fair share of the blame for this or I will be so p***ed off.”
