In the latest episode, Charity had her first therapy session where she went over everything that has happened; from her dad’s abuse, her mother’s strange disappearance and all the abuse she’d suffered.

She went into how she ended up becoming a mother twice as a child, forced into prostitution and terrorised by the police.

Sitting at home alone after her therapy session, Charity tried to come to terms with the battle ahead of her.

And then Mack walked in and instead of giving her space, began questioning her about how it went.

Eventually it all became too much for her and she grabbed her car keys before fleeing the cottage, leaving the door wide open.

But some Emmerdale viewers were not impressed by the scenes, with one writing on X: “Is this one of the worst episodes of #emmerdale ever?”

Another added: “Someone wake me up when this session is finished…yawn…”

A third tweeted: “Oh f*** off charity #Emmerdale, the writers must have written this at the last minute.”

Meanwhile a fourth raged: “What the f*** is this charity storyline all about…”

Emmerdale airs on ITV1 and is available on ITVX.
