EMMERDALE featured more relationship heartbreak as a long-term couple split in fiery scenes – leaving their family in tatters.
The ITV soap has already seen one couple break up this year, after Tracy Robinson confessed to her husband Nate about her affair with his uncle, Caleb Miligan.
Meanwhile, Paddy Kirk and Mandy Dingle have been through a bit of a rocky patch, as have Charity Dingle and her husband Mackenzie Boyd.
However, Friday’s episode of Emmerdale saw Caleb end things with wife Ruby in the wake of her latest outburst in the Woolpack.
Ruby had accidentally elbowed Caleb’s sister Chas in the chest, just weeks after she had her double mastectomy.
While she apologised, Caleb was having none of it and in tonight’s episode, things were tense back at the house.
Coming down stairs to the kitchen, Caleb asked curtly: “Are you still here?”
Ruby replied: “You don’t get rid of me that easily.”
As he gave her the silent treatment, she said: “Oh come on Caleb, how long are you going to keep this up? You know we always forgive each other.”
Caleb replied: “Yeah well not this time.”
Shocked, Ruby asked: “Seriously? You’re willing to throw our marriage away over one mistake?”
The couple have been together since 1995 and have adult son Nicky, but it seemed Caleb had had enough of his wife’s antics.
fter he left the house, he went to see if Chas was OK and despite what had happened with Ruby the night before, Chas fought her corner a bit, reminding Caleb that it was no wonder his wife felt he had to prove he loved her over and over again considering how many woman in the village he’d had liaisons with before she arrived.
Meanwhile, Ruby ended up getting a pep talk from Charity, who advised her not to make Caleb choose between his family and her.
Ruby said: “I just want what’s rightfully mine, why should I have to compete with Chas and Cain? For the last 30 years, all I’ve had is Caleb, if I lose him, what have I got left?”
But Charity told her to stop “playing the victim” and added: “This is your new life so if you still want Caleb I suggest you accept it and start building bridges.”
Unfortunately, Ruby didn’t get chance to act on Charity’s advice as when she got home, Caleb was packing for a work trip.
She told him she was going to change and a make an effort with the other Dingles, but he replied: “Will you do me a favour? Don’t be here when I get back.”
Caleb then left, and Ruby looked crestfallen as her marriage crumbled. Is it really the end for the pair?
