On Wednesday’s visit to the Dales, Angelica had her day in court to discover the consequences of her actions in the brutal New Year’s Eve smash that killed her pal.

Fans of Emmerdale will remember how Angel, Cathy and Heath all piled into Wendy’s car in order to joyride their way to a booze-fulled teen party.

Whilst Cathy was initially driving the stolen vehicle, it eventually transpired that it was Angel behind the wheel when the vehicle smashed into a ditch and left Heath dead.

Both Angel and Cathy were left distraught over the incident and the 14 year old daughter of Jimmy and Nicola King soon made it clear that she wanted to face up to what she had done.

During the sentencing, Angel remained of typical limited expression as she braced to feel the brunt of the law.

The judge later admitted that due to the seriousness of Angel’s crimes and the fact that she had killed someone, he was faced with no other option but to hand over a custodial sentence.

Angel was ultimately charged with causing death by dangerous driving as well as driving without a valid license or without insurance.

In a huge move for Angel, the judge confirmed that he had drastically reduced her planned lengthy sentence behind bars as a result of her guilty plea and multiple character references from those closest to the incident.

He handed Angel eight months in a secure children’s home.

As Angel appeared lost in thought, Nicola’s body recoiled at the thought of her teen daughter facing eight months banged up.

In a further blow, the children’s home in Leeds was overcrowded and as such, Angel was whisked away to Bristol – a four-hour drive away from the Dales.

Angel’s incredibly short sentence faced staunch criticism from Emmerdale viewers who were left bewildered that the act of causing death commanded just over half a year inside.

One fan said of the scenes: “8 months 8 bloody months ffs what a joke.”

Another seethed: “What a crock of s***e….8 months ?….8 EFFING MONTHS!!! ?…The laws an a**.”

A third penned: “8 MONTHS !! Bloody ridiculous… back in time for Christmas.. recast probably.”

Before a fourth exclaimed:  “8 f**king months, is that all?”

Others pondered as to why Cathy had managed to avoid any punishment given that she was also driving without insurance or a license during the same incident.

A furious viewer said: “It’s such a load of bo****ks that Cathy has gotten way with her part in this. She caused most of it.”

Whilst someone else fumed: “What about Cathy then. She drove the car away. Surely she’d be in court for something. #Emmerdale writers can’t remember what they wrote a few weeks ago.”

Fans were furious that she did not receive a longer sentence.
