BABY Ivy is at the core of an intense battle between ex-spouses Rhona Goskirk and Gus Malcolms.
Next week, the Emmerdale vet portrayed by Zoë Henry makes a shock discovery which could convince her to turn things up a notch.
Rhona Goskirk has been hellbent on gaining access to baby Ivy since her bittersweet birth.
This has been due to the fact Ivy was conceived from Rhona’s frozen embryos, which her former husband Gus (Alan McKenna) and his new wife Lucy used without her consent.
When Gus was left to his own devices following Lucy’s tragic death, Rhona stepped in to help him take care of Ivy – but she was unable to resist the pull she felt towards the tot.
The ordeal escalated as Gus made plans to leave the Dales to go to France for a fresh start with Ivy and Rhona was not willing to let go.
In a shocking twist, the fan favourite character kidnapped baby Ivy and was ready to leave the country herself to head to Canada.
Rhona was charged with kidnapping before she told the authorities that Gus had used her frozen embryos fraudulently.
In more recent scenes of the Yorkshire-based drama, Gus surprisingly agreed to allow Rhona to spend more time with Ivy if she was willing to let his breach of her consent go.
Coming up on ITV next week, however, Rhona realises Gus is deceiving her and promises to continue fighting until Ivy is under her care.

Regular soap watchers will perhaps remember that Rhona turned to local solicitor Ethan Anderson (Emile John) to learn more about her rights over baby Ivy, who was placed into care following her and Gus’ arrests.
But while she has been fighting to get baby Ivy with her, Rhona has been doing so to the detriment of her own son Leo and her stepdaughter April Windsor.
The daughter of Marlon Dingle recently let loose and let Rhona know felt neglected along with what she really thought of her constant chase for Ivy.
